The headline numbers for HP (HPQ) give insight into how the company performed in the quarter ended April 2025, but it may be worthwhile to compare some of its key metrics to Wall Street estimates and the year-ago actuals.
HP (HPQ) came out with quarterly earnings of $0.71 per share, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.80 per share. This compares to earnings of $0.82 per share a year ago.
The computer and printer maker lowered its outlook for the year, citing higher-than-expected tariff costs.
HP Inc cut its annual profit forecast on Wednesday as it expects a moderation in PC market growth at a time when the global economic environment remains volatile, sending its shares down 14% in extended trading.
HP reported better-than-expected revenue on Wednesday, but the company missed on earnings and issued disappointing guidance. The company said its outlook "reflects the added cost driven by the current U.S. tariffs," as well as the associated mitigations.
The personal computer maker says its costs are rising and demand for its products will be hit by the economic uncertainty.
