It's one thing when an individual's credit rating declines. However, a recent credit rating warning from Moody's applies to the entire country, or more accurately, to the U.S. government as a borrower of capital.

US stocks fell on Monday as traders took in Moody's outlook for the US credit rating. The agency downgraded its outlook from "stable" to "negative" as concerns over the US debt build.

Ratings agency Moody's is creating a unit to research and rate private credit, the firm said on Monday.

Although the revenue and EPS for Moody's (MCO) give a sense of how its business performed in the quarter ended September 2023, it might be worth considering how some key metrics compare with Wall Street estimates and the year-ago numbers.

Moody's (MCO) came out with quarterly earnings of $2.43 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.35 per share. This compares to earnings of $1.85 per share a year ago.

Moody's Corporation, one of the big three rating agencies alongside S&P and Fitch, will soon start using artificial intelligence-based large-language models courtesy of Google to assist with its company analysis. In an interview with Bloomberg, chief product officer Nick Reed said that Google LLMs will used to analyse the mountains of data in the public domain and Moody's' own resources that go into the firm's analysis.

Improvement in global bond issuance volume and a steady rise in demand for analytics are expected to have supported Moody's (MCO) Q3 earnings.
