The activities, which reportedly took place from December 2014 to January 2022, allegedly involved payments and gifts funnelled through third-party consultants to secure business in regions including South Africa and Indonesia.

German software giant SAP will pay more than $220 million in fines to resolve U.S. bribery allegations involving payments to foreign government officials, the Justice Department said Wednesday.

SAP SE has agreed to pay about $222 million to resolve investigations into bribery schemes in seven countries, US justice authorities announced on Wednesday.  The settlement, which includes a $118.8 million criminal fine and $103.4 million of forfeiture, is one of the biggest of its kind and is the second time the German software company has settled bribery allegations with regulators in the US.
